Maybe I've just stumbled across another axiom! I've struggled of late with this dynamic in leadership and discovered that it generates a lot of anger in me! Maybe a more healthy way of saying it is I've found another (but not my only) Holy Discontent!
All Blame, No Game refers to a leader who analyses the way something is lead, and then assigns blame to those who this leader feels are under performing, under committing, being a destructive or a distractive force, whilst at the same time this leader is under performing, under committing, or being a destructive or a distractive force. In other words, they are happy to blame, but they come with no game. No leadership themselves. No positive influence. No ownership of the problems.
Leadership is a team sport. Maybe that's another axiom of mine? But this means that if we are leading on a team each person on that team is responsible for the health, effectiveness, momentum, mood, success and decisions of that team. There is no place in any team setting for any leader to have an attitude that places blame on another, without first assuming the blame on themselves. Hence the phrase "This is OUR problem". And 'No' I'm not claiming that as an axiom!
